Sometimes, it takes the worst of circumstances to truly bring people together. This past week, 10-year-old Lazar LaPenna passed away during his Little League Baseball game in Long Beach, NY after running to first base. Lazar was diagnosed with epilepsy a few years prior to this incident, and was actively being medicated and treated by doctors.

There has always been a friendly feud between lacrosse and baseball, but it is time to put that to the side and do our part. It is an unfathomable experience to lose a child, and LU is here to do everything we can to help the LaPenna family through this most unimaginably difficult moment in time.

The LU foundation has created the Lazar LaPenna tee in Lazar’s memory. We will be donating all proceeds to the Lazar family in an effort to help them get through this. So far we have seen the PAL league stepping in as a huge supporter, purchasing 300 of these tees. A number of these were provided to the High School Girls and Boys Lacrosse teams to wear as shooting shirts. We also have these available for public purchase. If you want to show support to the family, the Lazar LaPenna tee can be purchased on our website, or you can click here to access the page.

We hope everyone who is able to participate in this cause does, so we can increase epilepsy awareness in the hopes of preventing more families from going through what the LaPenna family is currently enduring. Our efforts and thoughts are with them, now and always!
