We’re back like we never left for season 2 of LU Locks. We saw Dakota finish on top last year, and he’s going to be looking for a repeat. There’s a lot more competition this year with some new faces in the mix. We’re joined by Mo, Haggs, Kimmel, Marina, and former Hopkins and Archers player Connor DeSimone. Keep an eye out for our loser punishment, and our weekly picks. There’s a lot of lacrosse ahead of us, and here’s our biggest games of the week:

#2 Maryland vs #20 Richmond (+7.5, O/U 25.5) Saturday February 4th 1pm

A top 20 matchup to get the season started, what could be better than that! The Terps are the defending champs looking to repeat a historical season, and Richmond is looking to keep on improving their squad. Richmond has some of their top scorers returning, but they also lost a few in graduation. Maryland lost Tewaaraton winner Logan Wisnauskas and Johnathan Donville, as well as their offensive coordinator. Both teams are coming into this game with some offensive questions they will be looking to answer. Richmond is 0-2 against the Terps, but don’t let that fool you because both games were decided by one goal. Based off that, the Richmond spread is interesting considering we don’t really know what to expect from this Marlyand offense.

#18 Jacksonville vs Johns Hopkins (+1.5, O/U 24.5) Saturday February 4th 7pm

We’ve got another great matchup to start the season. These two opened up their 2022 season against each other and man did that game deliver with a final score of 11-8 in favor of the Blue Jays on Homewood Field. This year they’ll be playing down in Jacksonville under the lights at 7pm. Max Waldbaum returns for the Dolphins, and they have some solid transfers as well. The crease scoring machine Dylan Watson from Georgetown comes in and should be a great compliment to Waldbaum. Hopkins is ready to get back to their old ways, and here’s where it starts. They return a couple of their top 7 scorers that we should see making an immediate impact for their team. John Crawley is in his first year leading the offense as the coordinator for his alma mater, so it may be a process, but keep an eye on this Blue Jay offense, they may just surprise you this year.

#17 Denver vs Utah (+2.5, O/U 25.5) Saturday February 4th 2pm

The battle to see who the king of the western lacrosse world is. Bill Tierney is in his last season coaching college lacrosse.  Utah is on the rise, consistently improving their program. Denver has the Utes number going 3-0 all time, but their game in 2022 was a close game with a final score of 14-13. Some more bad news for Denver fans, the Utes have brought back almost every major contributor. Denver graduated a lot of their team from 2022 and lost others to the transfer portal. JJ Sillstrop returns and will be the main focus for the Pios.
