There were some close calls this weekend with the lines for our opening slate of NCAA lacrosse. Now that we got to see some of the teams in action, hopefully we’ll get a better read on the games coming up. Every team except the Ivy League schools will be competing this weekend, so we can see the standings shift any which way. Let’s get into our games of the week:

Georgetown vs Johns Hopkins (+5.5, O/U 23.5) Saturday February 11th 1pm

A rematch from their hard fought battle last year. Hopkins has gotten the early season jitters out of the way against Jacksonville, but it’s time to play the big dogs. Georgetown heads to Homewood field to start their 2023 campaign that they hope will continue through Memorial Day. The Hoyas didn’t lose much strength from last year, and even gained a couple studs. The spread looks good for the Hoyas but the Blue Jays might fight to keep this one close.

Boston University vs Vermont (+1.5, O/U 22.5) Saturday February 11th 1pm

The Terriers vs the Catamounts. This should be a physical game, and a great game to watch. We just saw Vermont stand tall and fight against Syracuse for a full game. They’ve got those first game jitters gone as well and are hungry for that first win. Boston is coming off their best season in program history, winning the Patriot League Championship. They returned almost every key contributor to their team as well. Are they still riding the high of their 2022 season, or are they ready to improve in 2023?

Maryland vs Loyola Maryland (+8.5, O/U 24.5) Saturday February 11th 1pm

An in-state rivalry is always going to be a one to key in on. Neither team likes each other and they know it. We got our first look at Maryland and it looks like they haven’t missed a step with their new players hitting the field. Loyola has some great offensive names on the field, and returned a lot of last years’ roster. A back door cover by the Greyhounds isn’t out of the question as Loyola has the offense to score and stay within a couple of the Terps. We’ve seen crazier things.
