As excited as we are, we’re sad to say it’s the final week of regular season college lax, which means it’s the last week of our locks. Dakota and Joe D. have solidified their spots at 1 & 2, but who will come out on top? Will Joe D. jump Dakota? Will Dakota sweep the top spot with another 4-0 performance? We’ll see. Frank has solidified his spot at the bottom (sorry Frank). Everyone else in the middle, unfortunately this week doesn’t really matter for us.
But, that can’t be said for the league. Seeding heading into tournament play can be made or broken this week for a lot of teams. We’ve got all eyes on the Ivy League, where there is currently a 5 week tie for first place. This is going to be an exciting and intense week of competition. Here are the 3 games we are most excited for.
#15 Boston University vs #16 Army (+2.5, O/U 22) Friday April 29 8pm
The Terriers have shocked everyone in the Patriot League this year, going undefeated with one game left to go in conference. It’s not going to be an easy task for BU to go 8-0 since they have to take down Army in order to accomplish that. Army is coming off a hard fought loss to Navy in overtime, so expect the Black Knights to be fired up for this game. BU has two 60+ point scorers in Vince D’Alto and Timmy Ley, so expect a lot of focus to be on them. As we all know, Army has one of the best attackman in the country in Brendan Nichtern, so we’ll have to see how the Terriers defense contains him. This is a big game with huge implications so don’t miss out.
#7 Princeton vs #14 Cornell (+4, O/U 26.5) Saturday April 30 12pm
The Ivy League is in a five-way tie for first place right now, involving Cornell and Princeton. They are both 3-2 in-conference, so everything is on the line this weekend. Princeton just suffered an upset loss to Harvard, and Cornell is on a two game losing streak, so both teams need this win. This conference has been an absolute dog fight throughout the season, and we expect this game to be no different right up until the final whistle.
#11 Duke vs #19 North Carolina (+4, O/U 26.5) Sunday May 1 5:30pm
Here’s another game with some large implications. The ACC does not get an automatic qualifier since they only have 5 teams in-conference, so this is the last chance for both Duke and UNC to show why they should be in the NCAA tournament. Duke has been inconsistent all year long suffering bad losses, and squeezing out some big wins. UNC has the best player in the country with Chris Gray, but he needs the supporting cast to help out some more. Duke secured a convincing win in the beginning of the month, so we’re curious to see how UNC will adjust from their previous performance. This will be one for the books.
