We are starting to see the lacrosse season intensify with every week passing. The window of opportunity is getting smaller and smaller as we get closer to the playoffs. The weekend was filled with great games, and we’re seeing our athletes continue to perform. Let’s take a look at their performances coming out of this past week…

Chris Gray and UNC hosted Joe Robertson and Duke with a packed stadium to get their rivalry going this year. Joe Robertson was balling all game long, scoring twice and finding his teammates three times for assists. Joe had a historic day as he became only the 14th player in Duke Lacrosse history to score 200 career points. Chris Gray finished the game with a goal and 3 assists. The Blue Devil offense was on fire all game and UNC had no answer for all their weapons as the Blue Devils recorded a 15-6 W.

Katie, Aurora, Belle, and Sam all had a multi-game week and each of them left the week undefeated, going 8-0 collectively. Sam played Loyola on Tuesday in a tight game where she recorded two goals in the 14-13 Syracuse win. Saturday was more of a breeze, as they took on Pitt and won 18-6. Sam scored one goal and also grabbed one assist in the defining win. Katie had a close game on Tuesday against Liberty, where her 2 goals contributed to an 8-7 win. Saturday they played Virginia, and won again 13-8. This time Katie scored 4 goals and accounted for 1 assist. Belle played against Dartmouth on Tuesday, and Virginia Tech on Saturday. The Eagles took down Dartmouth 16-5 and the Hokies 18-8. Belle had 8 points combined as she continues to help the returning champs stay on top. Aurora and the Terps took a trip to D.C. Wednesday to play Georgetown. Aurora scored 5 times and accumulated 3 assists in the 15-3 win over the Hoyas. On Saturday, Aurora returned to her former school Johns Hopkins but there was no love lost as the Terps won the game 17-6 and Aurora finished the game with 2 goals.

Syracuse played Notre Dame this weekend in what was a huge game for both sides going into it. Unfortunately for ‘Cuse, there can only be one winner, and Notre Dame steam-rolled the Orange 22-6. Brendan Curry had a nice goal but that would be it for his stat sheet. Matt Moore and the Virginia Cavaliers took a trip down to Richmond for a Virginia state rivalry game, and it sure was a rivalry game; back and forth the entire way until Richmond was able to get some space to secure the 17-13 win over the Cavs. Matt finished with 2 goals and an assist, before suffering what looked like a pulled hamstring early in the game.

Connor DeSimone and Joey Epstein played Rutgers Sunday night where the Blue Jays were looking to start 2-0 in Big Ten conference play, but things didn’t quite go their way as Rutgers won 12-7. Connor scored a goal, but no stat line for Joey. Kasey Choma scored a goal in their game against UNC, but the Tar Heels fire power couldn’t be stopped as they won 15-7.

Kelsey Huff got out of the sun as USC played at Michigan Saturday. Kelsey had a 4 goal performance and beat the Wolverines 14-10.
