That’s why our Dye Lab has become one of the most exciting ways for players to stand out on the field. From bold team colors to one-of-a-kind designs, each dyed head is a work of art, and it all starts right here in our HQ.
Step 1: The Vision
Every custom head begins with an idea. Maybe it’s a team logo, a patriotic flag design, or a personal nickname that needs to shine on game day. Players send us their concepts, or they work directly with our managers to bring their creativity to life. No two projects are ever the same, which is what makes the process so special. The sky is limit in our dye lab, we have some of the best and most creative specialists in the field that truly bring lacrosse and culture together!
Step 2: Prepping the Head
Once the design is locked in, our team carefully preps the head. This is a very lucrative and detailed process. Each layer of color requires different layers of vinyl design. The best way to think of it, each layer of vinyl preps the head to take another color. Something to note, not every color can be blended and dyed together. A good rule of thumb is always thinking lightest to darkest when doing a layered colored design!
Step 3: The Dye Process
Here’s where the magic happens! Using a combination of dye, X-Acto knives, and vinyling- our specialists bring your idea to life! This is not just paint, dye is a chemical process that actually embeds the color into the plastic. The result? A durable, fade-resistant finish that can withstand practices, games, and even the wildest weather.
Step 4: The Reveal
After multiple dips and dunks; the head is rinsed, the vinyl is removed, and the design comes to life. This “reveal moment” never gets old. Whether it’s a crisp school logo or a gradient fade with bold patterns, every dyed head tells a story.
Step 5: Stringing & Finishing Touches
Many players finish the process by pairing their dyed head with a custom pocket from our LU stringing pros. Matching sidewall colors, shooters, and mesh to the new design takes the look to another level—and ensures the stick is game-ready from day one.
