Week 7 arrived before we could blink an eye, and it delivered. We had both #1 and #2 teams in men’s and women’s lacrosse square off in highly anticipated matchups, and neither game disappointed. Our athletes came out of the weekend 10-7, with 39 goals and 20 assists for 59 points.

Matt Moore and the #2 ranked Virginia Cavaliers took a trip to Audi Field in Washington D.C. to play the #1 Maryland Terrapins in a championship rematch where UVA took the title home last May. The game was exciting throughout, but the Terps were able to walk away with the win 23-12. Despite the loss, Matt Moore was all over the field making plays, scoring 3 goals and 2 assists in the game.  Belle Smith took a trip down to UNC for a #1 vs #2 game on the women’s side. This game delivered in every way, except for the BC loss. UNC walked away with a 16-15 victory. Belle put up 2 goals on the weekend. Matt and Belle’s teams are ready to keep rolling and look for a rematch in the playoffs, where they can get revenge when it matters most.

Connor and Joey Epstein had another double game week with the Blue Jays, where neither game ended in their favor. Navy came to Homewood field and won in a nail biting 11-10 game. Joey had 2 goals and 2 assists; Connor would score and assist once in the game. The Jays only had one day of rest before prepping for Delaware Sunday night. Unfortunately, the rest wasn’t enough as the Blue Hens came in and won 14-10. Epstein finished the game with a goal and three assists, and Connor with 2 assists.

Chris Gray and the Tar Heels took a quick trip to High Point this weekend, and came away with a  victory. They probably would have liked to dominate this game a bit more in order to make a statement, but a win is a win. The Heels won 14-12 and Chris added 4 more goals to his stat column.

Sam Swart had two games this week as well, taking on the Florida Gators Wednesday and Virginia Tech on Saturday. The Gators pulled off an upset, taking down Swart and the Orange 14-10 in a one goal effort from Sam. Saturday, the Orange took on the Virginia Tech Hokies looking and managed to split the week with a win. Sam and Syracuse came out angry and made a statement with their 17-5 victory over the Hokies. Sam finished the game with a goal and an assist to help secure the victory.

Duke and Joe Robertson hosted the Towson Tigers on Saturday, walking away with a 14-7 win in a game where they needed to make a statement, and did. Joe was held stat-less but made the hustle plays to help the team secure the win. Brendan Curry and the Syracuse Orange hit the road to Long Island to play Stony Brook in a big game for the Orange. Curry had a great game, finishing with 3 goals and 2 assists in the 14-9 Syracuse victory.

Katie DeSimone had a great week, going 2-0 against Louisville and Davidson where she racked up 7 goals and 2 assists. Katie is getting close to the 60 point mark, and this Duke team is looking incredible with an incredibly efficient offense. Kelsey Huff split her two game week, going 1-1 with 10 points through both games. Kelsey scored 6 goals against Cal in a 19-9 victory, and  2 goals and 2 assists in a close loss to Stanford 15-14.

Kasey Choma and Notre Dame played Yale on Saturday, and seemed to have the St. Patrick’s Day luck on their side. The Fighting Irish took down the Bulldogs 17-10 behind Choma’s 4 point performance on 3 goals and an assist. Aurora Cordingley and the Lady Terps took on Rutgers in a Big Ten matchup, where the Terps won 16-6. Aurora had another great game with 3 goals and 2 assists in the win as she continues to perform as one of the best players in the country.

We’ve got some big games coming this week, including an UNLTD athlete matchup between Brendan Curry and Joe Robertson on Saturday, and Kasey Choma playing Katie DeSimone on Sunday. Best of luck to all of our athletes!
