NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals Look Through

The Quarterfinals are already on their way for the NCAA College Women’s Lacrosse Championships. Starting this Thursday, May 12, eight teams will be playing to compete for the Final Four. Let’s view the matchups.

 

Northwestern vs Penn

 

Coming out of a win against Michigan, the Wildcats are entering the Quarterfinals with a potent offense led by Tewaaraton Award Finalist, Madison Taylor. After being the runner-up to Boston College last year, Northwestern is hungry to claim the title of champions this season.

 

On the other hand, Penn had a huge victory over Maryland in a double over-time game of 11-10.The quakers continue to prove that they deserve to be where they are as the fight for the end continues. 

 

 

Yale vs Boston College

 

Boston College continues to show that they are a powerhouse as they take down Stony Brook in a three goal game in the second round. BC continues to bring determination as they try to defend their title as NCAA Champions for the third year straight. 


For the second year in a row, the Bulldogs are headed to the Quarterfinals after their nail biting win against Syracuse. This will be Yale’s third NCAA Quarterfinal appearance with five all-time wins in the NCAA Tournament.

 

 

Florida vs Duke

 

The Gators triumphed in the second round over Stanford in double over-time this past weekend. This will be Florida’s second consecutive NCAA Quarterfinal appearance and will be hosting for the first time since 2014.


Duke won a tremendous 17-9 game against fifth-seeded Virginia as they advanced to their 17th Quarterfinal appearance. The Blue Devils improved to a 14-5 overall record and are not looking to stop anytime soon.

 

 

UNC vs Princeton

 

Princeton will appear in the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2019 after their 18-12 win over the eighth-seeded Johns Hopkins. McKenzie Blake broke the Ivy League’s single-season goal record after she upped her total to 86 this past week to beat Francesca DenHartog of Harvard who had 83 in 1981. 


UNC has been unstoppable this season as they have earned the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament with their impressive 18-0 record. The Tar Heels took down Clemson 18-3 in the second round this past Sunday. Will Carolina be the next reigning champions for this year’s NCAA Tournament?
