Tewaaraton Talk: Tracking the 2025 Finalists

Recognized as the greatest lacrosse award, The Tewaaraton Award honors the top male and female college players in the country annually. The award was first presented in 2001 and was founded at the University Club of Washington, D.C. “Tewaaraton” derives from the Native American Heritage as it is the Mohawk word for lacrosse. Each year The Tewaaraton Foundation awards two students scholarships from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Here are the men’s and women’s finalists.

 

Men’s Finalists

 

Jackson Eicher (Army)- Senior Attackman, Patriot League Player of the Year
CJ Kirst (Cornell)- Senior Attackman, No.1 overall Premier Lacrosse League draft pick, 2025 Ivy League Player of theYear, 2023 Tewaaraton Finalist
Chris Kavanagh (Notre Dame)- Senior Attackman, ACC Offensive Player of the Year, No.10 PLL draft pick
Sam King (Harvard)- Senior Attackman, No.18 PLL draft pick, First-team All-Ivy
Coulter Mackesy (Princeton)- Senior Attackman, No.4 PLL draft pick, First-team All-Ivy attackman

 

For the mens the overall favoprite for the award is CJ Kirst as he has led Cornell all season. This season he has also set the all time record for goals in NCAA and continues to grow the record as he hopes to lead Cornell to the national championship later this month. 

 

 

Women’s Finalists

 

Madison Taylor (Northwestern)- Junior Attacker, 2024 Tewaaraton Finalist, 2025 B1G Attacker of the Year
Rachel Clark (Boston College)- Senior Attacker, ACC Attacker of the Year
Shea Dolce (Boston College)- Junior Goalie, ACC Goalie of the Year
Ashley Humphrey (UNC)- Graduate Attacker, First-team All-ACC Attacker
Chloe Humphrey (UNC)- RS-Freshman Attacker, First-team All-ACC Attacker, First women’s freshman finalist

 

The overall favorite for the womens award is Madison Taylor as she has had an over 100 point season and really hopes to lead northwestern to anotger champiionship weekend later this month. 

 

 

The recipients of The Tewaaraton Award will be chosen at the end of the 2025 season by selection committees appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation that are composed of premier college coaches. The recipients will be honored on May 29 at the Tewaaraton Ceremony.
