What to Pack for Summer Lacrosse Camp: The Ultimate Checklist

Summer lacrosse camp is one of the most exciting parts of the year for any player. It’s a chance to sharpen your skills, meet new friends, and spend time doing what you love—playing lacrosse. But to really enjoy the experience and stay comfortable throughout the camp, it’s important to come prepared with the right gear and essentials. Whether you’re attending a day camp or staying overnight, this guide will help make sure you pack everything you need.

First and foremost, don’t forget your lacrosse gear. Your stick is obviously essential—bring your main stick and a backup if you have one, just in case something happens. You’ll also need your helmet, gloves, elbow pads, and shoulder pads. Make sure your helmet fits properly and includes a mouthguard. Cleats are a must, and it’s smart to bring a pair of turf shoes or sneakers as well, especially if you'll be switching between surfaces. You’ll also want to pack an athletic cup, practice pinnies or jerseys, and a couple of lacrosse balls for warming up or extra practice during downtime.

When it comes to clothing, comfort is key. Bring plenty of athletic shirts and shorts—enough for multiple changes each day since you’ll be sweating a lot. Pack extra socks (you can never have too many), a sweatshirt or light jacket for cooler evenings, and some rain gear just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Don’t forget a hat or visor and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun, and if your camp includes swimming or water activities, throw in a swimsuit and towel.

If you’re staying overnight, your list gets a little longer. You’ll need bedding—either a pillow, blanket, and sheets or a sleeping bag depending on the setup at your camp. Bring a couple of towels (one for showering, one for swimming), all your toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, deodorant, etc.), and a pair of shower shoes for using shared bathrooms. A laundry bag is also super helpful for keeping your dirty clothes separate from clean ones. Finally, there are a few extras that can make your camp experience even better. A notebook or journal is great for jotting down drill notes or coach feedback. Something to pass the time—like a book or a deck of cards—can be nice for relaxing between sessions. If phones are allowed, bring yours along with a charger, but make sure to follow camp rules. Most importantly, bring a positive attitude and good team spirit—they go a long way at camp.
